Welcome to the official website of the Alton Firemen's Association.
Maintained for the benefit of the Alton Fire & Rescue Department.
The Department is made up of 40 call members including a full-time secretary, a part-time Chief, and a part-time Deputy Chief who is also the Town's Fire Inspector.
There are 2 per diem members on duty from 7am-7pm
7 days a week at the Central Station.
We also provide EMS coverage at night on a year round basis where 2 scheduled members respond from home. This coverage is paid for entirely from ambulance revenue and not raised from tax dollars.
We responded to 820 calls in 2016 -- 228 fire, 466 EMS which included 68 motor vehicle collisions and 58 calls for service -- making us one of the busiest on call departments in the Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association. The Department covers approximately 70 square miles of land (one of the largest towns in the state of NH) and 20 square miles of water including 17 miles of shoreline and 9 inhabited islands. The population of Alton in the 2010 census was 5,250 increasing to an estimated 20,000 in the summer.
