Welcome to the official website of the Alton Firemen's Association.
Maintained for the benefit of the Alton Fire & Rescue Department.
The Department is made up of 39 call members including a full-time secretary, a part-time Chief, and a part-time Deputy Chief who is also the Town's Fire Inspector.
EMS coverage runs from 7am-7pm 7 days a week from Central Station.
We also provide EMS coverage at night on a year round basis where 2 scheduled members respond from home.
We responded to 741 calls in 2013 -- 211 fire, 383 EMS which included 86 motor vehicle collisions and 61 calls for service -- making us one of the busiest on call departments in the Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association. The Department covers approximately 70 square miles of land (one of the largest towns in the state of NH) and 20 square miles of water including 17 miles of shoreline and 9 inhabited islands. The population of Alton in the 2010 census was 5,250 increasing to an estimated 10,000 in the summer.
